Civil Case Status due to COVID-19 Emergency
All civil trials and civil pre-trial conferences have been canceled until May 1, 2020.
Pursuant to Chief Judge Barbera’s March 18, 2020 Administrative Order on Suspension of Foreclosures and Evictions during the COVID-19 Emergency, all mortgage foreclosure and tax sale foreclosure actions involving residential property are stayed. No foreclosure sales or evictions or ejectments involving residential property are permitted. Papers may be filed in these actions. New actions that are filed are stayed upon filing.
Some motions hearings on the chambers and fast track dockets are being heard by telephone conference call pursuant to Maryland Rule 2-802(a). If a hearing is to be conducted in this way, the court will contact counsel with the conference call information.
Filing of papers in civil cases may continue to be done by mail or by delivery to a filing lockbox available on business days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Calvert Street entrance to the Mitchell Courthouse.
Daily postponement court is not meeting. Postponement requests that otherwise would be presented at postponement court and any other questions about scheduled proceedings may be directed to the Civil Assignment Office at 410-333-3755.
For emergency matters, filings should be made at the lockbox at the Calvert Street entrance to the Mitchell Courthouse and the filing party should contact either the Civil Assignment Office (410-333-3755) or Judge Fletcher-Hill’s chambers (410-396-6826).
