The Addictions Assessment Unit (AAU) conducts assessments and makes appropriate referrals. On the defendants trial date a detailed report is provided to the Judge documenting substance abuse and treatment. Defendants are referred by Judge and/or Court Commissioners to the unit. Assessment focus is alcohol/drug and other identified barriers to treatment engagement, and working toward recovery.
