REVISIONS TO CRIMINAL CASE MANAGEMENT PLAN

ANNOUNCEMENT – CASE MANAGEMENT PLAN REVISION OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT

Maryland Rule 16-302(b) provides for each circuit court to develop, implement and monitor a case management plan for the prompt and efficient scheduling and disposition of actions in the circuit court, which shall include a system of differentiated case management.
The Circuit Court for Baltimore City is currently revising the Differentiated Case Management Plan for the Criminal Division. The changes are designed to foster efficiency in scheduling practices and case resolution. Notable changes include the elimination of arraignments and the implementation of a protocol for initial appearances. Additionally, the protocol for advance postponement requests has been revised.
In connection with this revision, the court is soliciting comment from bar associations and such other interested groups and persons as may be appropriate. The draft revised plan is available for review on the website of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City at www.baltimorecitycourt.org.
Written comments may be directed to Kimberly Barranco, Associate Administrator for the Criminal Division at Kimberly.Barranco@mdcourts.gov.  Any comment should be submitted on or before January 22, 2019.
